Tour Through the Southwest: Vail

This week, Angel Fire Vodka's Tour Through the Southwest takes us to Vail, CO. Not as old as Aspen, not as young as Whistler, this ski hamlet is unique in the amount of famous skiers that have called Vail "home". One of note is Shane McConkey.

For those of you that have not seen the amazing documentary, McConkey, Shane was a revolutionary skier, ski-base jumper (yes, you read that correctly), and a very interesting human being. Post college, McConkey lived and competed in Vail where he made his mark in one very memorable Pro Mogul Tour event. Here's the story: During the competition, he did a flip, got disqualified, then skied back up for more glory. McConkey then proceeded to ride down the course completely naked only to be swiftly banned from Vail Mountain. Hence, Vail will forever be connected to the myth of Shane McConkey...and that's not a bad thing.
